Roots of Endurance

Roots of Endurance is a monochrome stippling drawing created with archival ink on textured fine art paper. The work features a tree that transforms into the body of Oryx, a symbol of strength and survival in harsh terrain. Look closer, and a raven rests on one branch, while a lizard clings to the tree’s bark. Roots extend downward, anchoring the form, while an abstract arc echoes the shape of a rising or sheltering structure.

This piece was inspired by the silent endurance of nature, how animals and trees alike adapt, persist, and carry histories through time and place. The oryx, often associated with balance and tenacity, stands for resilience against the elements. The lizard and raven act as quiet observers in this scene of still resistance.
