Soundproofed

“Soundproofed” is an original ink drawing made through meticulous stippling. Thousands of hand-placed dots build intricate form and texture. A brain rests within a pair of headphones, an image about how we meet the noise of the world. The headphones hold several ideas at once: comfort, focus and escape. They cradle the brain, suggesting a space where thought is protected or perhaps contained.

The title leaves the question open: are we calming the mind, or shutting it away?
