The Weight of Memory is a hand-drawn stippling work made with archival ink on textured, heavyweight paper. At first glance, a raven perches on a branch between bare trees — but slowly, other forms begin to emerge. The tree trunks curve into protective, caring hands. A large lizard, camouflaged in bark, clings to the right. Near the base, a small turtle nestles between roots.
This piece explores how memory layers itself quietly into our surroundings — sometimes nurturing, sometimes heavy, but always present. The raven becomes a symbol of watchfulness, the lizard and turtle act as silent witnesses, and the hands formed from trees suggest care, resilience and rootedness.
I chose stippling for its slowness, every dot a fragment of time, memory, or thought. It mirrors how meaning is revealed gradually, if we stop and look closely.
The artwork is presented in a shadow box frame, but can be sent unframed on request. It will be securely packaged for safe delivery.
