Within the Tear is a quiet, contemplative work created entirely through the process of stippling. Each dot is placed by hand, building texture, weight and emotion over time. At the centre, an eye rests inside the form of a teardrop — a symbol of reflection, memory, and what remains unspoken.
Just above the eye, there is a subtle sense of pressure. The marks tighten, the space compresses. It suggests the invisible weight we carry, especially during moments of quiet struggle. If you look closely, you’ll find hidden figures embedded in the texture — barely visible, but present, as if holding the tension or offering unseen support.
The cracked surface could be skin, earth, or something worn by time. It speaks of resilience, silence, and what endures. The iris, with its soft floral pattern, brings a sense of hope or calm at the centre of the feeling.
This piece is framed in a deep shadow frame, which allows the work to sit slightly recessed, adding presence and depth when viewed in person.
Part of a series exploring emotional states and inner landscapes.
